Ready to sell FD

I just bought my FD about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I use to have a turbo II before getting this car. It's pretty nice and for the price I cant complain much, but the lack of support for the automatic is pissing me off to no end. I can't find an aftermarket ecu that will work properly with the automatic, all that I have seen loose the hold function and that is unaccesptable. Now if I can't find something for this problem I am going to sell this car. This is pathetic. Any info and/or suggestions? Thanx

You can use the PFS and still keep the Hold function, its a piggy back not a standalone system. Im in the same shoes your in, but its not a big issue as im in the process of doing a manual swap than upgrading to a PFC, Now you will hear that these sysytems are also know as the "purple motor eater" and that really goes with ANY system that if not tuned right "boom" these are old systems but work just fine and you can even have a 3mode feature that allows you to have 3 diff. settings(maps) From what i read so far its not a bad system, there are better but for an auto its your only choice.

For those of you guys who HATE the PFS keep it to yourself, they Work, these cars came out when the PFS did and what do you think they used, you think they kept it stock...No they had the PFS(and other piggybacks as well) and ran very good with them and some still do. And thats the only option an auto has.

One other though is that you CAN get a PFC and hack into it to keep the Hold but its a BIG pain and har thing to do, for this do some research but dont get your hops high.

Goodluck

After all the hype from Pistonkilla about the ol' purple box, and the fact that I am a complete @$$hole, I just gotta say it........

The purple motor stopper sucks.

You can buy my HKS PFC F-CON piggyback ECU. It'll work fine with the auto. I have two different ROMs for it.

PM me if interested.

a piggyback will be fine for an auto, since the auto trans won't hot all that much power anyway(so I've heard).

If you want to mod beyond a few bolt ons, you'd probably want to do a 5sp swap anyway...

Sorry, that's just how it is.

These cars were never produced in huge numbers, and as such it took several years before a good standalone was developed for the 5 speed. Going further, the automatic has much, much less interest.

You really should have bought a 5 speed if you wanted to mod.

If you are set on keeping it auto, a piggy back system would be best. Most people don't realize that even a Haltech can be run as a piggyback. You have the Haltech control ignition and fuel, and have the stock computer there to manage the trans.

Thanx for the replys guys, I have been thinking about the 5 speed swap. I just didn't want to do it now. I wanted to mod the auto until it gave out and then swap the 5 speed. The 4.3 diff would work on both, and it seems that most of the auto guys are really happy with the gear swap, this is one of the first things that I want to do. It just sucks that I cant use a stand alone. What do you guys recomend for piggy back, I have heard that the emanage is not recomended. I have seen the haltech predador but dont know much about that one.

i use the pfc and have ZERO problems with my automatic. I think a lot of this auto trans stuff is a lot of rumors and hear say. I'm gonna buy another transmission cooler and see exactly how much it can take. I'm probably close to the 325 hp mark without any problems.

(I never used the hold function on my auto trans. Never saw the point.)

I'd love for someone to fit a Ford c4 automatic into an FD.

At what RPM does your car shifts? Mine as it is now shifts at 6700, are you able to hold the gear all the way up to redline? On my old fc I used to shift at 7500 and with the fd having bigger ports I cant see the fd not making power at 7k +, this is the main reason I want the hold.

PS
BTW I meant to say haltech interceptor not predator hehhehe on my previous post.

The PFS piggyback is the only way to go, and there pretty cheap, just try to get one with the pink 9 software, if not it will still work but the pink 9 is the latest of the PFS systems.
