Thumbs up RE N1 hood installed on my FD.

My RE N1 Carbon hood came in Thursday night. It installed easily and I was very happy with both the quality of the hood and the fitment. Originally I had planned to paint it, but I'm not so sure now. Here's a few pics of it:

Thanks to Chuck for making such good products

I wanted to get it but with the M2 Med IC, I know it would rub the vent area....damn it.

Looks great,

Looking at the last pic, that thing seems to fit damn near perfect. Did you have to do anything to it to get it centered? trim areas or anything?

I didn't have to do anything to the hood itself, but I did have to lengthen the holes in the hinges to move the hood forward about 1/2 an inch.

Did it come with hood pins??
Hold in the Hood for the Hood pins?

What do you mean you had to lengthen the holes
in the hinges?? So you had to fabricate new hinges? drill new holes?

No, I had to purchase Sparco hood pins seperately.

I used the stock hinges, but I widened the hole to extend towards the front of the car, so we could slide it forward as needed.

hey Bryan looking good. The hood fits better than about any hood I have seen, especially considering how quickly we had it installed, well I did alot of watching, lol. Definitely one of the nicer hoods I have seen.

Looks good and fits better than most. Now you need a CF rear spoiler.

I see you have a PFC....

could you do some measurements on underhood temps before and after the hood is mounted? Also recording outside ambient temps?

if you paint it, your a grade A moron! if you really think you saved weight with goign with a cf hood, you though wrong and wasted your money. and if you think its any stronger then a fg hood, your wrong again! cf hoods are ment to be cf for show as its not dry carbon and its not 100% dry carbon! sell it and get some money back and buy a fg hood to paint if you want to paint it. then again, it is your money and i guess as long as you are happy with it, thats all that matters and i should go shut the f*ck up! just trying to let you and everyone know, its cf for the look.

BTW: if you think about it, the weight of paint just killed any of the weights savings you might have gotten from the cf. also, if you took a really huge crap before you get it to your car, you probally saved/took off more weight then how much the cf would have saved

on another note, it looks good Also, kudoes on putting hood pins in! im amazed at how many people don't...

as for the rims, what kinds are those? those are the thinnest rims i think i have ever seen on any car. nice

the hood looks great, if your going to paint it i'd leave the front vents unpainted, that'd look great and not be too flashy or stick out too much. imo

As far as the weight goes, I didn't do it for weight reasons, I did it for letting heat out. I did however weigh the stock hood versus this one. The stock hood weighed in at 22lbs, where as the RE N1 weighs 13lbs. Only a savings of 9 lbs, but better than nothing

I'm strongly debating on not painting it now, as it looks much better than I had thought and it's really growing on me.

About the pins, I don't think I would feel safe not using them.

And the rims are Racing Sparco NT-R in Bronze. 17x9 and 17.2lbs each.

Thanks
