RE Bumper Guard for FDs

I have been meaning to post this picture for months, but I kept forgetting.

It's a Rotary Extreme Bumper Guard that Chuck made a while ago. It's made out of Carbon Fiber and is very high quality. It fits the rear contours perfectly and I am very happy with it. It's a nice piece overall.

Question

I'm confused. What does the bumper guard do? Instead of getting exhaust on our bumper, we now get exhaust on the bumper guard that is riveted into our bumper and doesn't match?

Is there something I'm overlooking, such as actual damage by the exhaust to stock paint/bumpers?

It's Carbon Fiber.... duh!!!

Everything is better when it's carbon fiber

I admit it looks cool, but not worth it IMO. I can just wide the black crap off my bumper with a towel and not have rivet holes in my bumper.

As it's already black, you don't notice the stains from the exhaust. I got a little tired of always having black spots on my bumper every other time I drove my car.. I figured I don't need to clean it since its black anyway..

i agree it is very well made...but now instead of having a black mark we can remove with a towel its a black mark riveted into our bumper. Its one of those things where i just see a lot of better ways to spend the money.

Maybe.. but $100 isn't a drop in the bucket to most people.

What if I said I had a burn marks or melted spots under there from running too rich? Would I rather buy a new bumper and paint it versus installing this? Easy to justify then.

That's why I'm going to put mine on. I'd rather wipe off some carbon fiber than repaint my bumper.

Yeah it looks purty good, and seems like a good way to save a lot of future headaches, but it doesn't look like you had that big of a problem to begin with... r' I think.
