RE-Amemiya Intake installed :bigthumb:

i just got my RE-Amemiya intake from a forum member. I can feel a difference and the power band feels much sharper. Also hearing the primary turbo spool up now is really nice. My stock BOV's really leak under 15% to 50% throttle so hopefully i'll be able to put on my HKS SSQV here soon. the stock airbox took up so much room that with this intake on there is now a big whole all the way down to the rad. Fan and in one spot i can see all the way to the ground. mazda really didn't make it easy craming 6 hoses in one little area ether that was half the battle putting it in was keeping the hoses out of the way while your working. I think it was a good buy and looks really good under the hood too. I love the new power
Rob

Golly - I installed one a few months ago and took it out within a week. Was not fond of the sick-cow-in-labour sound under my hood. Friends who rode in the car asked me if there was something wrong with the engine.

Swapped it for a Cheap Bastard intake and got the same power and no bovine sound effects.

I have since wondered how people can run an open intake on RX-7s and keep their sanity.

That sick-cow noise is your air-pump sucking in air. You hear it now that the sound is no longer baffled by the stock airbox.

Yes - and a car that moos can not be taken seriously. I think I'd rather have a dozen 2'x3' Hello Kitty stickers on my car than have it moo.

put a plastic or metal plug in the small vent hose(apexi intake) and drill a few tiny holes in it and the mooing sound will go away. A brand new kit would have a plug included.

yeah i still have the airpump. but i might try to discontect the air pump intake hose from it. Its really not that load on my car and the sound of the turbo spool up over powers it some.

Do u still have ur cat...cause if u do u want to keep the air pump connected. If u dont u could end up clogging the cat. Just eliminate it and get the midpipe.
