Rattling/ticking sound coming

from what seems to be the dash area. It only comes on at around 2k rpm, and when i press on the brakes. Somebody in the other rx7 forum once told me it is the brake booster hose or something like that. Anyway the reason I'm asking is because I'm taking it to Rotary Power thursday morning and I wanna be able to tell them what I think the problem is. They told me to just bring a printout of a good response on the problem so they can narrow down the problem.

It only happes at around 2k rpm...and when i press and hold the break...sounds like a rattling sound. Like when you put a BB in a plastic box and shake it around. Wanna get the sound fixed...it started after they installed my Clifford alarm

I think they take your dash apart to install the Clifford alarm to hide it well and cause it requires a lot of wiring. Do you have the glass breaking "detector" option? I know they had to take the dash off another car to put that feature on.

Hey, sounds similar to an intermittant problem I'm having. Sometimes, when idling or very light throttle, there's a rattling type sound from the firewall/dash above the steering wheel. I was going to wrap some thick felt around all the hard lines from the ABS that are there and see if that's it. Let me know if you find what it is. Please.

No doubt, it's definitely coming from the firewall. I'll let you know what I found out when I come back from Rotary Power on Thursday.

Cool, it's not that loud but is VERY annoying. Almost as annoying as the cracked heat shield on my cat (only buzzes as I pass through 1500 rpm). Got to get that welded back together one of these days.

Together, the two noises make a great combination when I gently accelerate through 1500 rpm.

There was a thread a couple months ago about a problem with one of the hard lines coming through the firewall by the passenger-side. It would rattle and tick at idle. There is a simple and cheap solution if that is what the problem is. Maybe somebody bookmarked or saved the info from that post. Anybody?

Nevermind, it was pretty easy to find. Hope that is the problem you're having.

Do the TSB, very easy fix. The rubber isolated bolt quiets the ticking/buzzing.

Thanks very much. I thought I remembered something about that from some time ago but I have been working on a few other issues when this thread popped up. Thanks for the link, Lost Time.

No problem. Let me know if you do this and if it fixes the problem. I have the damn ticking, but I'm too lazy to do anything about it.
