RATS NEST REMOVAL 101 - Not what you're expecting... *PICS*

Well it's actually nice out today, so I decided to pull the FD out of the garage and let her get some sun...

Check out this pic of my UIM... wait a second, do you see that?

Tried to move the throttle cable out of the way for a better look...

That didn't work.

Let's get that vaccum chamber out from infront of the UIM...

HOLY ****... thats... a RATS NEST!

I better get some tools...

Time to suck up, whatever the hell that is...

Extracting it from under the UIM...

A TRUE RATS NEST:

Well, that was fun... I found mouse/rat droppings all around the engine, a few even on top of my UIM! After all this, I finished vaccuming up some extra stuff and took her out for a drive. Luckily it doesn't seem that any wires or vaccum hoses have been chewed up, but I'm going to keep an eye out. My car sat for about a month in my garage, I guess the arrival of winter forced the animals to find a new home! Bet you guys weren't expecting this!

Happy Holidays!

I'd be pissed, time to get some traps. Make sure they didn't get in your car and leave anything for you.

That's messed up. Thank God there's no damage.

That CYM is gorgeous; I never really liked yellow on a car until I saw a CYM RX7.

I had a rat problem too and the only thing it chewed up was the grey alternator wire boot. This feels like silicone (or maybe neoprene). Something to think about if you decide to upgrade your vacuum hoses....

BTW, I'm jealous I'd love to own a bone stock CYM. I wouldn't touch it, leave it how it is.

Haha, thats funny Charlie. When i rebuilt my motor last year i found a small toad had made my intake manifold his new home when i went to put it back on. It was a little easier removing him though.

Charlie, that's what you get for depriving that beauty of being driven for so long Just glad he didn't do any damage!

You're too kind

I'm not really sure how they got all the way up there, or why really... I couldn't find any other nests in the engine bay or the garage, so I guess it hasn't been going on for too long. I should set up a hidden camera with a motion sensor, lol...

Haha, I knowwww! So many times today I've had people tell me, "Well thats what you get for never driving your car!" Haha, maybe I'll let her out of the garage more often from now on I've almost got all my parts in from japan, so by the end of February I should be making a new post, maybe Dan and I will do a little photoshoot!

Sounds like you need a really thorough engine bay wash. Seriously, if you don't wash the rat crap out of there, you will be smelling it for a long time to come.

Well hopefully this motor will be long gone in a few months time. Once it's out I'll definitely be detailing the engine bay, it needs it
