Rammed off the road... :(

I had my RX-7 run off the road while out of town over the weekend.

They had been following me for a while when I realised, so I turned down a side street.. they followed and rammed the passengers rear. Put me in a spin into a fence. Front of left chassis rail is bent, and a lot of damage to the left side panels. Suprisingly little damage to the engine bay, bar the air con radiator.

Quite glad the car was left in an undriveable state, since I think they would have stopped and beaten the crap out of me for my car otherwise!

I've already got new front and rear panels being sent my way, but will probably be a while before shes back on the road.

Wtf, they just randomly decided they were going to ram you? There's got to be more to this story.

Unfortunately not, this sort of thing is happening more and more frequently in NZ.. recently a friend was followed home and bashed in his own driveway, along with his father before his car was stolen.

Media is blaming P/methampthetamine use on the rise, I blame the total lack of action from the police. They didnt even attend the scene of the accident after I called 111

That is insane. I can't believe things like that are happening. But who wants to ruin a car before stealing it? That is the part I don't understand. Even if damage is minimal.

If someone was doing that to me on the highway at night in a rural area, man I would have just smoked 'em!!

That's too bad, though. You're lucky the damage is only minimal. Good luck with repairs.

Wow this is a rediculous story. What kind of bullshit is that? Also wondering why you didn't just floor it and leave them behind?

I have to agree.

A couple of things here: 1st- I would not have turned down a "side street" and isolated myself even more. I definetly would have made use of the power your making, and put some distance between you and these dicks.
2nd- Don't buy a gun to carry around with you. Pulling a gun in a situation like that is likely to get you into more trouble. Someone will freak and call the cops, or they could have a gun too. Neither is a good situation. Remember, discretion is the better part of valor.

My eyes almost popped out of my head when I first read this guys initial post...really glad there are MODS here who are doing the right thing... Kudos to RYNBERG for catching that...

Dezigns: Sorry to hear about what happened to you and your car...but to be honest, I am more saddened by the the choice of words you used to descricbe the people who allegedly did this to you...

...why tune your car if your not going to learn to drive it to it's limits....so the next time someone decides to chase you, you can be in control....packing is always a good backup...I have no pitty for someone who won't put up a fight when physically provoked.

...drive the hell out of your car whenever you get a chance...if you wreck it then at least it was you that did it...

It's ok to hold that opinion, but it doesn't exactly pertain to 3rd Gens.

While Tyler and I won't 'moderate' everything that goes thru this forum, potentially inflammatory AND off-topic discussion will get cut. Guns really have nothing to do with FD ownership.

Dezigns: I'm not fully understanding - are these drug-related because they're looking for cash to get a fix? Or organized carjackings to get the car?

Dave

They do if you are getting rammed off the road while driving an FD that you own and you have a gun in your car with you.

Running a car off the road and trashing it is not what I would consider an organized car jacking. I agree with the drug comment or possibly just for the cash of parting the car.

Probably a good thing seeing how you didn't try to elude them that they trashed your car so it wasn't driveable. You never know what they would of done if they still wanted your car and you were trapped with no where to go.

And here I thought New Zealand was all peace and sheep. Shows how much I know.
Sorry to hear about your trouble Dezigns, but please tell us more, even if you have to speculate. You said meth addicts maybe, but what were they after? Or were they just crazed out of their minds?

It's easy for people to second guess. Even if you have the fastest car in town, you can still get in a situation where someone can catch up to you, especially if they're willing to be reckless. The advantage in a chase usually goes to the pursuer. Even if the one doing the chasing is slower, the faster lead car usually runs into some sort of obstacle, from traffic or whatever, and that gives the car following time to catch up.

it'll just be some jelaouse dicks being asses, depending on what part of the country, but its more likley to be in the North Island of NZ.

Guns??? bro you wont find f**k all guns in the back of cars over here in lil ol NZ unless youre a farmer or a gang member or worse yet a cop!

I still have my money on it being a skyline driver
