RAIN on Sports cars.

Why should this car never see rain? What does rain do to the car? (especially the FD)

I don't know why people think these cars will melt in the rain... It does just fine like any other car, just be careful and don't slam the throttle around every turn.

Are you serious? This car isn't made of sugar therefore won't melt....

Rain makes your car dirty and the roads slippery

Rain get's the car wet...*shrugs*

Other than getting the car full of water spots (depends how it dry's off) and things dirty...it just doesn't make sense to drive the car hard in wet weather on public roads or highways, at all.

And I drive my FD to DRIVE it, I have a Daily Driver/Beater for commuting that is boring and mild. So rainy days the FD stays home

I have a 99 spec vented hood and have some concerns about rain flowing downward into those vents. I have not seen any problem the few times I got cought in the rain.

the only concern i have when its raining is the safety factor..... usually rear wheel drive cars dont handle too well, but it can be overcome by driving slower

Do you mean a Mazdaspeed style hood? Where the vents are located on that hood and with the size of them you shouldn't have any concerns.

My FD looks wicked in the rain, must be the wax I put on every other week Doesn't get too many rain spots as the water just runs off......

But I've just purchased a daily driver so the FD will be seeing a little less rain from now on.....

its perfectly fine to drive the FD in rain but i chose not to

mostly because for some reason when theres rain, more idiot drivers come out and play..especially around here, its scary..

but i have a choice not to drive in the rain because i have a daily driver..if its snowing, raining or when i think the FD needs to rest lol, ill use the civic..

No FD to my knowledge has ever come with a stock vented hood. I personally like driving in the rain because i drive slower, pay more attention, and dont get on the throttle at all =saving me gas!

I wouldn't worry about water getting through hood vents. I wash underhood when I wash the car and have never had any "water related" problems.

My car handles very well in rain. Kind of cool to watch the mist fly up in the air in the rear just like an F1 car! Best part is afterwards I have an excuse to wash it again!

Rain is no problem. Last month I got caught in a huge storm, saw my first tornado touch down about 15 miles away, even with a scoot hood the car never missed a beat and it was a crazy down pour. Only problem was I couldn't see and had to pull over for a while.

Driving the car in the rain is no problem, as long as your careful and dont drive like an idiot. As long as you do that, you'll be fine.

These cars are still cars, and are ok to be driven in the rain. And as mahjik has shown us, apparently these cars are perfectly able to race in the rain too.

I believe the SP did....Of course you only got the slower models in the US...

I love my FD in the rain...so easy to hold low power slides, unlike most other rwd cars I have owned...(No...mine doesnt have enough power to do power slides in the dry unless I really try to do it...)

why don't I drive it in the rain??? easy...

Dirt, dirty, messy... etc... Every time it sees rain, and then dries off from parking in the sun, etc, that's less life on my original paint. Besides that, it doesn't look as good, and folks (including me) don't appreciate the mirror shine. It usually means I also have to wash it ASAP, which increases my chance for swirls from washing and drying... I usually detail spray it then wax, since it doesn't need a wash.

Okay, I know I'm ****, but hey, that's just me

The only thing I hate about the FD and rain is that I know I will be washing it again real soon. And also when you open up the back hatch if it's still wet and all that water just pours all over the place.

You should take it one step higher............

Never drive during daylight too. The UV from the sun will waste your paint & fade your interior. Plus traffic is lighter at 3am.

Probably a bad idea to wash your car with water. Doesn't someone market waterless carwash system?

Are you afraid of your own shadow to?

I'm surprised they let you run auto-x with windows halfway down....here, you have to either have windows all up or all down. Track events - all down.

Well when you live here in New Orleans you wouldn't be driving very much...IT likes to rain a lot...Especially during Hurrican season...Also the day after you wash it the rain decides to come...One thing that scares me is people forget how to drive in the rain and they don't allow enough stopping distance for wet conditions....In otherwords we have slip-n-slides!
