Radio fix

Hey All,

Long time member here on the forum but have been absent for years. I had recently acquired another FD, this time it's a 1994 base, my '93 is still lifeless after a blown water seal. The factory stereo on my '94 is not putting out any sound at the moment. The stereo powers up, all station locked on, the tape player work but no sound.
Does this car have an external amp?

Thank you, Jay

I had a similar problem with mine some years ago. I tried to get it fixed by a car radio repair shop but they were unable to get it to work again. Wound up just putting in an after market head unit. There is an amp for the center speaker under the center console.

No external amp on non-Bose models.

Not too many factory stereos still working, frankly. Not sure WHY they quit, could be something simple. I know on my car (I'm the second owner) the previous owner told me she'd replaced the stereo because "it just quit working one day". And that was back in...1998 or so.
