radiator hose question

I have seen a few pictures of FD's (mostly in japan) with the radiator hoses replaced with metal piping, would this be a good idea or bad? It seems like it would be like a reliability mod, since the hose couldnt split or burst. Any thoughts?

I don't know of too many people here who have used them. Most people have gone with the Thermal Flex hoses:
