Wow....like I said earlier this week, I passed emissions. But this morning as I was waiting to go home, and letting her idle a little to warm up, I noticed that the exhaust smells really bad...like unburnt gas.

I know it's common for hopped up RX-7s to have this smell due to the extra fuel enrichment, but for a normal stock car to smell this way?

It's almost kinda embarassing, because it makes it seem like it's an old polluter or something.

Due I need to get an A/F to help regulate some of it? I know it's better to be rich than lean...or..do I just need to replace everything. My precat is pretty shot.

I've already ordered a downpipe, but I know that's not gonna help with the smell.

 

It's kind of normal (for an RX-7). It doesn't necessarily mean that you are running too rich. It most likely means that your cat is cold or no fresh air is being pumped to it. If the smell goes away after a couple minutes, then it's normal.

 

Ah..would that explain why upon immediate start in cold idle, it seems to have alotta of vapor rising up from it (in cold weather)..and then after a few minutes of warm-up, it goes away?
