Question Radiator Fitment and PFS SMIC?

Hey guys, I did a search on radiator fitment issues associated with the PFS intercoolers. I found out people were experiencing fitment issues with their koyo radiators along with their PFS SMICs and were having to cut a lot of stuff to make it fit. Some other people said their radiators fit fine.

My question is are there really radiator fitment issues that goes along with the PFS SMIC or is it just heresay? Anyone with personal experience or pictures etc? Are there any radiators that fit well with the IC that are flow better than the stockers? Thanks

-Jon

I have a PFS smic with a koyo radiator and it pushed up the IC duct quite a bit. The solution to this was to cut the duct 1" all around but the fitment is still like crap unfortunately.

Space the AC condensor down w/spacers. Remove the rubber mounting things that hold the upper mount of the radiator up off the body. Only add 1 bolt to hold the top.

This will lower the radiator down a bit, then the PFS should fit OK. I've seen the PFS IC installed with a Fluidyne and Mazdacomp rad and they fit fine.

I've run the PFS IC with a Mazdacomp radiator, and had no clearance issues whatsoever.

Is the mazda comp in the same price range as the koyo? Or is it more in the fluidyne range?

I am also running a PFS SMIC and am ready to upgrade my radiator.

Is the mazdacomp as big as the koyo? I know the fluidyne is smaller than the koyo.

The PFS fits fine with my Fluidyne on my car....yes, it is a tight fit and you do have to make sure the duct is not smashing the wires, but it does fit properly.

I'm not sure how big the Fluidyne or Koyo cores are, so I don't know how they compare to the Mazdacomp, but I would guess the Mazdacomp is a bit smaller.

All I know is that the Mazdacomp was adequate for running 12 hour endurance races at 14-15PSI in my old racecar. It ran pretty hot, but within reasonable limits.

The PFS intercooler and duct I bought used was hacked up to fit with a Fluidyne. I blocked off all the holes cut in the duct by the previous owner, but ended up reopening one to get it to fit right with my M2 Radiator.
