the more modded your engine is the more pressure it creates and the stock rad cap ant good enough

if its almost stock in terms of your engine id put a 1.3 bar cap on no point going any higher

e.g

It's a 0.9 bar cap.

Damn dude....you might want to put down the drugs before you answer questions. I have a modded engine and I run zero psi on my cooling system.....where does that figure into your theory. The stock cap after the recall was .9bar, before the recall they had a 1.1bar cap on it. The picture he has shows the filler neck and it doesn't use a pressure cap it's just a seal cap for the neck. Some guys run a higher psi cap to give them a magin of safety, not because there motor is modded or un modded. Jeszzz.

I thought you don't need a pressure cap on the filler neck? I thought the filler neck could have just a cap, and the AST was the one that needed the pressure cap. Is this incorrect? By the shape of the filler neck, I really don't see how it's possible for it to create pressure, as the hole that leads to the AST is far below the extent of any pressure cap's reach.

You're right, on the filler neck it's just a plain jane no pressure cap. You need a .9 bar pressure cap on the AST.

What is happening when our young people can not even determine on their own such a simple replacement part?

It's like 5 bucks from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, 888 533 3400. I'm not sure why people are afraid to call the dealer for parts, Ray makes it easy b/c he owns an FD so you don't require part numbers

Yeah, all you need is a regular cap, not a pressure cap.
