for you guys who run your fans constantly on, is there any draw back to this? I know it certainly keeps the engine temp down but does your gas mileage suffer or any things that you trade just to have the fans constantly on?

The fans are a mechanical device. Pretty much, all mechanical devices have a finite lifespan. The more you run them, the quicker they will fail.

If there a cooling problem? You shouldn't have to run your fans all the time. If you do, there is a problem with your car and you should fix it properly (i.e. not run the fans all the time).

It's not your computer and the admins are working on the problem.

Running the fans won't really hurt anything. Like Mahjik said, you shouldn't have to run them all the time to keep your temps in check. The only drawbacks I see are reduced lifespan and drawing current from the alternator, which will theoretically make you get worse gas milage and lose power. (although these amounts will probably be too small to notice)

Wink

hmm good point. i guesse the best route to take is to just turn my ac on to activate the fans in stop and go traffic turn it off when im satisfy with my engine temp. plus it cools me and the passgner too. I have no heating problems so far btw. thanks for your inputs.
