Race ported motor... Idling at 1200.... is that normal???
I was just wondering what the normal idle for a ported motor should be at.
I have a PFC and its set to 1100 ish.... but when I drop it down to normal
750 or so... it sounds like its going to die out.
For the people with ported motors what idling are you guys set on?
Is this normal for a little bit higher idle on ported motors???
Thanks!!~~

Vaccum should be arround 11-14 depends on how much the ports are. Idle should be at 950-1000 rpm, also so you might have to pull some fuel out at idle in the pm volts on the PFC.

I have a street port and I idle at 850. Sounds great there, but at 750 it shakes the entire car and sounds like it's going to die. So for a big port, I would guess 1000 would be about right. I would just make it idle as low as at can without shaking the crap out of the car.

Sounds about right. I ported the hell out of my motor, with some serious overlap. At ~1000 rpms, I am seeing around 13-15 inches Hg vacuum. I
t all depends on the port sizing. If you did not port the motor yourself or receive pics of your portwork, then dont make any assumptions.....I have seen some "streetports" when we break apart motors at the shop and sometimes they look like they were ported with a damn toothbrush.....
