They made the R1 model in 93 here in the states, then R2 in 94 and 95. From what I know it was because of the softer suspension in the R2.

I chose the R2 because it did not have a rear wiper and sunroof.

I wish I had cruise control though. Sacrifices had to be made.

The base model also lacks a rear wiper. Although the base has cruise control, it only has one oil cooler, a small front air dam and no rear wing. So, it is slightly lighter than the R1 or R2. No sacrifice involved

Err, no it wasn't.

The base didn't have an extra oil cooler, spoiler, front lip, front strut bar or extra ducting for the brakes
