R1 Suede Seats vs. Touring vs. Base

Hey guys...after a couple track events with my stock tan touring leather seats and having to tilt my head while wearing a helmt, I've decided it's worth investing in some seats. Does anybody know how the R1 suede seats compare to the leather seats in terms of height? I've been looking at some pictures, and it looks like the seats are exactly the same except for the cover.

Any insights?

Well poop. So that means getting the R1 seats won't help me at all with the height problem?

I'm sure there are thousands of threads on aftermarket seats...I'll do a search.

Thanks!

Nope, the R1 seats would help if you didn't want to slide around

Yeah they're definitely grippier, but I was hoping they would also be lower.

Sparco EVO or Recaro SPG. Don't waste your time with anything else.

Yeah I sat in foko's car a few times at track events, and those Sparco's were frickin' awesome. That car was pretty ridiculous overall.

ClockworkB, it's a width issue. You want a seat with NO MORE than 400 mm in bottom tub width. TRUST me on this one. For instance, a Recaro SPG will fit, but a Pole Position will not.

Also You can lower the stock seat by removing some of the foam cushion - it is about 3-4" thick stock and can easily be trimed down by 1-2". You lose some comfort, but not any more so than going to a race seat.

I traded my R1 suede for base Cloth seats. So much more comfortable. My car doesn't see any track time though.

Actually I went from cloth base seats to R1 seats and found the R1s to be more comofortable. I guess to each his own. It seems that the cloth ones let you sink into the seat more (more mushy feel to them).

Call me crazy, but I had R1 Black Saude, and Touring Black Leather, the leather was in great condition, and so was the R1, so I put the leather into teh R1, and sold the R1 (Cloth Saude) ones...

I went from R1 suede to Recaro SPG full shells and they are more comfortable than stock.

It helps that one sits in the seat properly - 90% of people do not.
