R. I. P. My baby FD3S...
11.30.2005 Rest in peace my belowed FD.
After nearly a decade of amazing service and pleasure this FD had given me, faith decided to take my baby away from me.
On my way to store the car for the winter, tuck my baby nice and warm in the garage, a horrofing engine fire set her away from me for good.
As I'm writting this I got tears on my eyes and my heart is pounding in grief.
After finishing my all project-s and getting her work better than ever, the way I wanted her to, she's gone. And that's not the only sad part, 2 days before I decided to take her for the winter strage, I cancelled the Full Insurance Coverage to a basic liabilitie plan. just so I can drive it around once in a while for warm-up during the winter.
Not long ago I had a minimal engine fire , a hot wire rubed to the chassis somehow and before the fuse blew, cought fire, as anyone owning such a car, I had a fire extingusher handy and localized the fire in seconds, once I got back on the road I drove to Home Depot immediately and got a new fire extinguisher, just in case **** happens again, like it did.
Well, the stupid new fire extinguisher did not work, when needed the most, the fire looks like it started from a fuel line near the exhaust/turbo side which btw was brand new, as they all were, I'm pretty sure it was a fuel line b/c I heard to pop under the hood the motor staled right of way, black smoke that smeled like fuel filled the cabin instantly.
I got on the shoulder of I-95 that same moment, with the fire ext. on my hands, rane in front the car, opened the hood, poped the off the safety pin from the f.e. I was pretty confident I had it under control, untill I pressed, pressed and squezed the ******* lever and nothing, than I was freaking out, called 911, fire was getting bigger and bigger, this doode that stoped to help/see whats up, was yelling at me to move away from the car, I was in the fire, getting burned on my hands and face almoast, I took my jacket off and soacked it in antifreeze I had in my trunk, and trying to stop the fire from getting bigger, fighting as much as possibly could to save her, but in less than 15 min. the whole car was a blaze, 20 min. after the Fire Dept. showed up, too late, not they're fault of course, half of the car melted down already, nothing left of her, everythin that was aluminum and plastic including interior was gone.
I was thinking of filling a law suit agains home depot or the f.e. comp. for selling a faulty unit, that could have coused someones life, but it all seems like it was meant to be, like faith had it all planned already, brand new fuel lines, canceled full coverage ins 2 days before., bad f.e., what are the odds? Therefore I'm just gonna let it go and save up for few years and get another one maybe.
From this....
To this,

damn that ******* sucks ***...I know what you mean about all the work you'd put in on the car because almost everyone that has or had an fd had to tinker with it. I feel for you because I would be mad as hell if this happened to me.

Jesus that sucks. The fork lift would have brought a tear to my eyes. You know I have a nice cheap 94 roller fs with no damage (not counting dings) in your area

John - I can't believe it. I was just looking at a bunch of pictures of your car the other day in your online directory. The amount of work you put into that thing polishing everything yourself. All the interior work. Even all the pictures you took when new tires showed up. You really cared for that thing and I am feelin' really bad for you right now. It was such a nice, nice ride.

NYC's Loudest FD
So sorry to hear what happened to you, my friend AnthonyNYC came across a very similar siutation with his FD as well a few years ago. Maybe his story can inspire you(even though you don't wanna hear that right now).
