Quick question about this fuel filter...

I read somewhere on the boards that the OEM (from the factory) fuel filter has a silver sticker on it. (And presumably the replacement filters do not)

Anyone know if that is true?

And is this filter a OEM from-the-factory filter?

Big pic here.

Thanks.

I don't know about the sticker, but the pic you have appears to be of a factory filter.

That's what I'm afraid of since my car has 85k miles on the chassis and I have no record of the fuel filter being changed in my stack of receipts...

Yeah, I did already, that's the one I took off. The question is, will it solve my hesitation problem (when the pump is at 6V). If it's the factory part then I'm more hopeful that it was clogged and causing fuel problems and that my new one will fix the issue.

I'll probably have to just wait and see what happens. I did test all the wiring when we had everything apart and it seemed like the connector was getting proper voltage and the resistance wasn't too high.

The connector on the tank (on one end of the harness that goes from under the rear plastic panel through the metal piece to the tank) is suspect though since the plastic connector on the tank side is partially broken and the ground wire going to the pump looks green/corroded a little. It's possible that the harness is getting proper voltage but the pump isn't seeing it consistently because of the sketchy connector. Does anyone have that short harness piece for me?

That looks like a factory filter there, the sticker has a factory part number on it. To see if it's clogged or not, try blowing air through it. Be sure to blow in the right direction, and maybe use your hand as a buffer so you're not putting your mouth directly onto the metal. It's really obvious when you blow through the brand new filter and then through the old filter, mine had +45k miles on it, didn't flow nearly as well as the new one I replaced it with.

If you suspect the ground wire at all, replace it. A bad ground is a big electrical no-no, it will cause all kinds of problems.
