Quick pearls on Koyo radiator install

Ok....I finally got my Koyo radiator installed over the weekend and have a "pearl" that wasn't mentioned in other threads about the install that I saw when doing a search.

Firstly, I have the stock airbox and intercooler....others may have easier or harder fitment issues (though I have read the former is more common)

Ok...here is my suggestion...

1) don't put the mounting brackets from the stock radiator onto the Koyo!!! Yes I tried to flip them...and when the other write up say "flip"....what you do is take the left one and place it on the right side thus making it "upside down" and vica versa....this does work and the holes line up very well...the only problem is that the radiator sits almost a full inch and a half higher....thus when you bolt the parts back on no lid closure!!

I know someone in Dallas had to shave the fan shroud....this allows the area by the AC condensor that hits the shroud to sit lower closer to the stock location....I didn't want to shave the shroud...

Instead...I didn't place the brackets on and did a "test" fit....the radiator sits much lower...there is still a gap to let air in from the intake in the front...and the hood will close! but it is TIGHT!! My bar that holds the hood up need to be forceably pushed into the retaining plastic clip to clear the slightly higher stock intake plastic manifold...but the lid closes without any evidence of hood rub....

The only problem is that I had to "ghettto" rig silicone ties where the brackets would have been to hold the radiator into place (but seriously with everything in place I have no idea how that radiator can move anywhere...it is wedged in TIGHT)...we tried to take plumbers tape (metal bar with holes in it) and bend it to get it to fit with the stock screws but couldn't get it to fit perfectly....the angle was too tight

If someone is good at making templates or fabrication...I thing you can get one to fit...I'm gonna try this later but with the radiator at this postion and the thickness of the koyo, the stock stud and koyo placed mounting point are much closer together....

I hope this helps anyone installing the Koyo....

thanks to my friend Eric P. who was busting through town who helped me with the install!!!

Also, i went and bought double sided tape and AC condensor foam about inch thick (thicker should be fine as I had to put two layers in) to seal the edges of the radiator...I got these from Home Depot...
