Quick flywheel limit question

Alright,.. Hello everyone. This is a question directed more towards mechanics but any experience is appreciated!! I'm changing the clutch for my customer and his flywheel was WAY burnt and warped. (rear main seal went out and leaked onto the clutch) When I took it to the machinist I told him that the wear limit was .008" warpage. I told him that if he had to take off more than that NOT to do it. Well..... He said he had to take a .020" cut off to make it level again. Basically it is almost ground flat to the ring gear!! My thoughts are that he needs a new flywheel. Any remarks ?...Agree or disagree.? I looked at mine for comparison but it was worn below the ring gear. D'oh!! Thanks for the replys in advance! I would like to let my customer know tomorrow.. P.S. For what it's worth I asked a mechanic at the Mazda dealer and he said it's all good!
