quick fix for stock oil pressure gauge failure
Ok.
This is even for you idiots out there, this is an easy and quick fix (if your sending unit isnt fucked).
My stock oil pressure sensor has been shitty since the day I got the car. Somtimes, its a result of a bad sending unit, in my case it wasnt. The other reason it seems to be failing is because (in my case) I had oil, dripping down the line that ran from the sending unit to the oil pan.
Somwhere in between this line, there is a white connector that disconnects the oil pan line from the sending unit line... A month ago, I was trying to disconnect the lines and OOPS, one of the lines ripped out of the middle connector (rather efforetlessly, probably due to a buildup of oil which was probably causing the weak signal which was probably the cause of the "failing" oil pressure sensor." Initially, this was all hypothetical, but my brother was takinig his exaust off his car so I decided I'd go ahed and fix it since its just been sitting disconnected for a month.
Anyways, this is how it goes.
Cut the connector off both ends of the line, make sure you have enough line on both ends to work with, enough to strip about an inch of wire cover off.
Twist them together, or figure out your own bootleg way to join the two ends together, and wala! Your oil pressure sensor should be working.... Mine does atleast so Im happy,
I was going to take some pictures but im too lazy and this is too simple for a tutorial of images anyways.

the one in the pan is your oil level sensor...the black connector is the pressure sensor
so what are you fixing? you're fixing the broken oil level sender that YOU broke, am i wrong?

Yea, the stock sensor is the lvl and pressure sensor.
And yes I did break the connection but it was good that I did. Because the white connector in the middle was the reason for my oil pressure sensor reading "0" which seems to be a very common problem umongst many stock FD's.
All I did, was cut out the white connector and wire the two wires together. This bypasses the plastic connector piece which was flawed in my case due to build up in oil over the years causing a very weak signal to be sent, thus my stock gauge was reading 0 or occasionally shooting up w/ WOT.
And if you wana be a dick and be like, well what are you supposed to do when you need to remove the oil pan or pull the engine. Just disconnect the end that hooks up to the sending unit.
But yea, if your gona be a ****** dont say anthing. This is just for the few people out there whos stock oil pressure sensor have been exibiting problems or not functioning at all.
and no, it hasnt worked since I got my car

i'm not being a "dick" or a "******"
i thought it was generally understood that oil leaks/drips/buildup on the electrical connectors cause problems with the oil level sensor...
the solution to this problem would obviously be to fix the leak- my car leaking oil is more of a relevant concern to me than a faulty OEM gauge

Not sure if this is what you meant, but the oil level and oil pressure sensors are in two different locations. Level sensor is in the side of the oil pan and the oil pressure sending unit it below the oil filter and slightly forward.
