Exclamation QUICK DECISION: 2mm or 3mm apex seals?!?!

I need to get back to Rotary Performance within the next day before they drop a new engine into my '93 RX7 (TT) on whether or not I want to upgrade to a hand-polished 3mm apex sealed engine.

I would like to get a boost controller and jack up the boost on the car eventually (I have a 1 year warranty on the engine), as well as EVENTUALLY add a single turbo upgrade (lots of money, but lots of HP I hear )... and I've heard that the 2mm's don't hold up well against that kind of stress?

Convincing my parents to add in an extra $1,000 (price of the upgraded 3mm engine) to the cost of the car isn't going to be easy, especially with the explanation of "I want hundreds more horsepower!"

IS IT WORTH THE EXTRA GRAND (and the potential trouble with parents?)

P.S. I have the potential to work a couple of website deals to grab around a G. Perhaps I could throw that into the proposal with the rents?

A 3G in high school? Good lord. Your parents are insain if they pay for this, let alone the car in the first place. Get the 3mm so at least the person who salvages the car will have a nice motor.

The stock Mazda 2mm seals can support a lot of boost if tuned properly. Some people actually prefer them to other seals. I'd go with a set of Hurley 2mm seals. Post this in the single turbo section. They'd know the most about it. By the way, are your parents looking to adopt a kid? I could use a new motor too before I go single.

is that a crime? you didn't have to say anything if that was all you can come up with, 'next person gets a nice motor'??

Get the 2mm Hurleys. They can withstand tremendous abuse and mods. Cost around $500-550.

I have the 2mm Hurley racing seals

They suppose to withstand more boost and more reliable. Well I will dyno and tune my car to 18psi with these seals and will see how it is.

Thumbs down Insane????

Are your parents insane? or just plain stupid. Remember stupid is as stupid does.......Forrest Gump

I've had my Rex for 5 years, my daughter is 18 she's never driven it. She has a modded 93 Civic.

My son is 32 and he's never driven it.

Only my wife & I drive it.

It is way too much car for a teen!
