Quick Air Pump Question

Hey guys,

The manual says to loosen the air pump to get the alternator belt back on and it shows me the 2 bolts to do this. Do I need to remove the airbox assembly to get to it or is there some kind of trick to reach that bottom bolt?

Thanks in advance,

I did not have to mess with the airbox. It was a b#$ch to get at though. I was able to get a small ratchet in there to do the job.

Good luck!

just lossen the bolt on the ait pump to the far left and swing that down and loop the belt over and bring back up the air pump to where it was and they tighten up the alternator.
That should be it

why don't you just loosen the alternator? There is a nut up on top and another you have to loosen on the front so the top nut will move

Both alternator and air pump must be loosened to remove the belt. The alternator alone cannot travel far enough.
Just remove air intake duct if you still have it on your and there should be "plenty" of room.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies. I got everything back on and didn't have to loosen the air pump at all (thank God). Apparently at NAPA, the proper belt is 53 7/8" rahter than the 53" version that every other place called for. Turns out the 53 7/8" was the perfect size. The alternator, with full tension on the belt, is only halfway up it's range of adjustment so everything worked out. Just an FYI for those of you that don't wanna try and work with the "plenty" of room

Hope this helps someone.....
