Question Questions on Tranny work

Whats an estimated price for labor on a 5th Gear Synchro fix? Or, would it be better to buy a new tranny and replace the whole thing? What sites sell trannies and synchros? Thanks in advance.

Replace the whole tranny just for that synchro? No, don't do that unless your existing tranny has other problems. It's a $25 synchro and 1-2 hours of labor on top of removing and reinstalling the tranny, so that's about $100-150.

Mazda is the only source for synchros I know of. I suggest looking up Malloy (mentioned in the FAQ).

You can get used/rebuilt trannys on this site's for sale, or get low mileage used trannys imported from japan. In both cases, the condition will always be in question in some way since most sellers and importers can't verify the operation of the tranny.
