Questions: Need answers PLEASE!

I heard from a friend that Mazda rx7 (rotary engines) need to be rebuilt every 30000km - 40000km, is this true? Also if anyone has owned one on their p's have you been pulled over much, i'm from Victoria. Do many things happen to rotary eninges or cost a lot of money to run?
Thank you, i really appreciate it.
