Questions and concerns

First question... and ive searched for days and days and couldnt find an answer.

when i bought my car i was told that with my stock IC and stock fuel system i could run up to 13psi... but as long as it wasnt always at full boost b/c id be on the "ragged edge". ive been considering it just to see if i can bring my HP numbers up from the 288whp mark.

i just want to know if its safe to do as long as its not constantly boosting that high. i know the stock IC gets inefficient past 12psi (though ive seen so many debates on that i dont know what to think).

i also have a friend that has a newly S/Ced Mustang(350whp) talking trash... id love to wipe that smug look off his face.

Do you have a EMS? Engine Management System??
If you do, you probalby can get away with it.
Even so, still taking a chance with stock IC..

I personally wouldn't risk it.. All it takes is one PING
and your out 2-3K for rebuild/reman.

Using a stock ECU?

If so, I believe it is recommended to keep boost under 10-11PSI. Rynberg has posted in a bunch of threads regarding this. Something about the stock ECU not running enough fuel for boost pressures over 10PSI.

The stock intercooler really isn't too efficent at higher than stock boost pressures either. More boost will make the turbos work harder to produce those boost levels due to thAT inefficiency/restriction.

ECU is a G-Force unit... mapped to accept 13ibs of boost from what i understand. im just concerned about the IC efficiency even at the occassional 12-13ibs. right now im at 11ibs. as for daily driving the car sees no more than 6ibs of boost. thats all i need to get up to speed with traffic.

If you run high boost without an after market fuel pump (you can get a supra TT one for like 99 bux) you hav ea chance of running lean and hthat will ruin your whole engine

WRONG. Please stop posting inaccurate information. The stock fuel pump can supply all the fuel the stock injectors can deliver.

The stock IC can handle 13 psi for a short burst but I would most definitely not try any kind of sustained boosting at that boost level. The intake temps will go through the roof and the turbos will be running too hard.

The problem with 13 psi, and the stock intercooler is that it makes the turbos work really hard. The small, inefficent intercooler is probably making the turbos put out close to 16 psi. Running them at that level with wear them out much faster than normal.

If you are just going to do it for one race, you will be fine. Kick that Mustang's ***!!!
