questions about street porting

i finnaly got the car of my dreams 3rd gen RX. but i got a couple of questions. i kno that once yo do a single turbo conversion on an rx, it no longer passes emmsions. but what about a street port is it emmsions legal or not ?

It depends on the port. If you are too worried about SMOG, I would recomend against it. Mine has a mild port and I'm a little worried.

honestly im not worried about smog i just dont wanna have to do it and then i have to take it out emmsions suck ***

Porting isnt really something you "take out". Once youve put a grinder to your housings, you cant put it back on.

If you just got the car, why dont you get use to the car at its current power level, then add a few mods and work your way up to a single turbo?

As far as emissions go, I had everything [emissions related] with a high flow cat and barely passed. I passed HC by .02. This was with some bolt ons and a remapped ECU. I can say with a certain degree of certainly that if you port it, it will fail. My basis for this is you'll be ingesting more air, thus more fuel will have to be supplied. It's possible I suppose that if the tune is really good, you might have a chance. Especially if the tester is light on the throttle. This is with Illinois' standards so this will apply to you more than a reference to Ca's smog, which is way beyond rediculous.
