Question: Would it be a good idea to buy a 93 for $2,500 (M)

All that it has wrong with it is the transmission supposidly. A friend of mine was thinking about buying it and putting a new or used transmission in. Would that be worth it. New to this so not sure how much any think is. Any Replys would help thanks.

You can get a used tranny or a rebuilt transmission for a fair price. If that is the ONLY problem with the car (Which I doubt b/c of the low price), and it has under 100,000 miles on it(or a new motor), you are getting the best deal I've ever heard of. I would inspect every part of the car. Demand all maintenance and repairs paperwork, and the cars history. You could tear the car apart and sell its parts for well over $2500, so be cautious! Look at how the interior is kept up, how clean/kept up the engine bay is, and any modifications to the car. Those might help you see how well the seller took care of other parts of the car, like the motor, suspension, etc.

Re: Bad transmission in 1993

It's a 1993 RX-7 with 75,000 miles on it. The transmission went out in it and my friend wants to buy it for $2500 u.s. dollars. And what i was wondering is if it would be worth it to buy and put a new or used transmission in it or would it be or would that be more expensive than buying one with a good transmission in it. Hope this is easier to read. Oh yeah i live in Holland Michigan. Not Holland in europe.

It's a Steal, Go For It

Are you kidding, why are you hesitating? $2500 for an FD that only needs a transmission.

But wait a second, nobody in their right mind would sell a 1993 FD with only a bad transmission for $2500.

There must be more to this story that you aren't sharing with us, OR that the seller is not sharing with you!

even for the chassic, it still extremely under price. Take it. You can put in a HKS 6 speed and it still very inexpensive.
