Question regarding tune-ups on 3rd gen
I have a 3rd gen and I have a mechanic that does most my work on this car. My mechanic specializes in RX-7's but I have to travel a good distance to take my car to him. I know that most mechanics do not know how to properly work on these cars. My question is, how important is it for a RX-7 specialist to do simple tune-ups? If I take it to a standard mechanic am I at risk that they will screw my car up from lack of knowledge or is a tune-up simple enough for most mechanics to do?
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

Don't take it to a "standard" mechanic. Big mistake.
There is a good chance that he will mess up something. Then you will wind up taking it to your RX7 guy who will:
1. Be mad at you for taking it somewhere else.
2. Charge you for the tune up you already paid for.
3. Charge you to repair what the other guy screwed up.

I would trust a Mazda dealer or other mechanic to do things like change air, oil, fuel filters, spark plugs, and tranny/diff fluid. Changing wires or flushing the coolant, I would do myself or have done by an FD mechanic due to the quirks of the car in these areas.
