question on the profec b
question on the profec b
I've searched alot, but i can't seem to find what i'm looking for...
With the spec I, how do you judge how much boost you set it to. I mean, it doesn't have a screen right? So do you just look at your boost gauge and see about where you are at.
The reason i am asking is because i have an autometer boost gauge (not accurate enough for me to trust probably), so i just want to know how easy it is to set the boost to say 12 psi, and then how easy it would be to switch from 12 to 14 (preferably want to be able to do it without trial and error)...I know the spec two has a screen and you can digitally see how much boost you are getting when you set the *****, but i've heard they have problems from some members on the forum...
basically, what are the differences in the two units, and how do you set the boost on either of them (if i'm assuming correctly i'd have to use my autometer boost gauge for the spec I)

I have been using the Spec 2 and it's more of an annoyance than a major malfunction. When ever the ignition is cut it resets to a lower boost level. All I do to correct it is swich from lo mode to hi back to lo and all my original settings are still there. I've emailed Greddy and they are not aware of any problems with the unit.
I've just thought of the problem as kind of a valet feature. It automatically lowers the boost from the set level and keeps some fool from blowing the motor.

The Profec B "spec 1" is very easy to use. You just turn up the ***** to your desired boost level (well, after tuning the balance control). If you don't trust your autometer gauge, why did you buy it?
As far as switching between settings, it's very easy, you just hit a single button once.
