question for gurus or anyone...
I was on the dyno yesterday when we realized that the check valve going into the vaccum chamber was broken in half. Does that happen offten? Well anyway I dynoed lower than what I thought it should be considering the other types of vehicles that I have already beaten and was wondering if I would lose a considerable amount of horsepower if it was broken.
Its just wierd because it drives just fine the idle was ok and u can here the turbos spooling at the right times, so it was wierd that I would have one and not know about it. Now I dont know if I would have felt the difference if I had gone WOT, but before the dyno I spent most of the time just cruising. Anyway my question is
1. Would I lose some horsepower since that checkvalve is broken?
2. Is it wierd that there are no other signs except the fact that it seemed to dyno lower?
3. Where would u suggest to get these check valves?
Im going to check Malloy on monday.
Sorry about the long post...Im kind of venting at the same time. Its like u fix something, u think everything is going just fine and then when u think the worries about ur motor are gone......bam here comes another problem. And it always seems to come at the most inconvenient times.....grrrrrrrrrr. Sometime u just feel like

It wouldn't even come close to boosting normally with that check valve broken. Don't you have a boost gauge? Why would you dyno the car after you discovered a problem?
Oh, and yes, they do are a common failure point -- but only at high mileage....

We dynoed it and like I said it was a little lower than I thought it was and thats when we decided to look around the motor just to see if everything was still connected or ok. Thats when we pulled up the vaccum chamber and there it was.....half of the check valve on the side with the vaccum chamber and the other half still in the engine bay.
I have a boost gauge on my blitz turbo timer, but Ive been cruising around...never hitting WOT....and I really didnt notice that anything had changed. I guess I got too relaxed with the car after the compression test and the mechanic said that I was in the 8's all around.
