Question on a ground wire location, and we finished the car. No start. :(
Welps, my friend, Tom and I finished my RX-7 last night. Sorta.
It's all put back together, minus some things like the hood, small things, etc. We went to go start it up, and everything turned on, all electrics were good. It was a wonderful experience to see it light up again (I forgot how nice my radio was...heh). Anyways, I went to start it up, and the starter wouldn't turn over. We tried it a few more times, and it turns out the B2 fuse was blown. So we swapped it out real quick with one that wasn't being used, and voila! The starter turned over.
So, we go to start it again, and the starter is cranking and cranking, and it caught just for a second, but after that....nothing. I tried for several minutes to get it turned over, but no dice.
Soo.....air, fuel, and spark right? We know it's getting air...so we checked the spark with a timing light. Good strong spark...so it's gotta be fuel. We think one of the fuel lines might be mixed up...but it was so late last night, we just couldn't finish it.
Soooo...Monday, we're going to hit it again. I guess that's what happens when you don't get your engine back for several months, and you forget where everything goes.
Also, I have no idea where the hell this ground wire goes. I know it goes to the chassis, so we just grounded it there, but I don't know the location it's supposed to bolt to....it's from the wiring harness for the starter, and I know it's for the main ground, though.

I believe that ground wire goes to the block itself. There is a flat spot there for it i believe on the middle iron.
Have you re-replaced the fuse you guys blew? Make sure they are ALL working.
Are the fuel lines on correctly?
Look it all over once or twice just to be sure that things are in order, then get back to the forum hehe

Well...I checked the manual, and the ground wire shows it's going to the chassis from what I can tell...plus, when we hooked it to the engine, the ground wire on the firewall started smoking (definetly not enough ground). So we think it's supposed to go on the chassis. The manual is useless in some ways, espescially if you're a noob.
I'm going to pick up the extra fuses on Monday, and ensure everything is good to go. We checked all the fuses, and the only one with a problem was the B2 fuse. We swapped the retractor fuse out with the B2 fuse just as a quick switch. The retractor is for the headlights, we assumed, right? We'll find out for sure on Monday.
As far as the fuel lines are concerned, that's what I'm thinking is the problem, and I've photochopped the pics I took...can someone confirm which one goes with which? A to B, C to A, etc.? Thanks for the help guys.
Here's a really bad quality MPEG video of the first time we started it...notice the fact that the firewall ground in the back started smoking (although you probably can't see it). That was when we had it grounded to the engine.
Any help will be and is appreciated.

A (on the metal tubing) attaches to the vent line which has a yellow dot, the other side of the vent line is closest to the firewall
B (on the metal tubing) is the 2ndary the ohther end is between the two lines at the firewall
mine has a white dot on it
C (on the metl tubing) is the primary fuel line the other end is the line furthest from the firewall and closest to the driver's fender
That ground wire connects to a bracket (the bracket is attached to the ps/ac bracket) next to the L1 plug.
The female connector connects to the male behind the ps pump.

I was trying to figure out where that ground wire goes too last nite!!! Can anyone else confirm where it's suppose to go? I've checked the fsm/wire manual but the pics aren't that great.

Ahh...thanks. We actually grounded it next to the coolant bolt lower down on that same plate. We gave it another go...but no dice. Here's the thread:
