Question about wiring harness connectors

I've got a question about wiring harness connectors...the alternator connector in particular...can I order just the connector from the dealership? Mine is missing insulation from both wires in typical "stock FD wiring harness form" and I'm getting weird charging issues, I wanted to replace this first. I'm pretty sure they have them - I bought a Series 5 alternator for my '87 TII years ago and it came with a new connector and wires - but you know how retarded a Mazda dealership can be in regards to the 7 so I wanted some information from the forum first. If I had a dollar for every time the dealer said a part didn't exist, but they just didn't know where to look in the computer, my 7 project would be more than done by now hehe...

I'd call Ray up - he can find out for sure if it's available. If nothing else, I think that's on the starting/charging harness, which is relatively simple to swap out but I don't know how much the part runs for.

Might not be too hard to find one used. Heck, hit up the junkyard and look through '90s Mazdas - might find one that still has the connector in good shape and you can chop it off.

Just so you know, in case you haven't found out. You can't order just the connector for an RX-7, but you can order one for a late-model 4cylinder 626 and it is the same one as the RX-7

Yea you can't order the connectors individually from mazda, and I have never been able to find a source. A good solution I have used is taking an old spark plug wire boot and using it on the alternator wire. You can make it look real clean by slitting the boot with a razor, sliding it over the alternator wire, and the wrapping it with some electrical tape and finish off with some black wire loom.

You can order it. But you have to say to the parts guy, "Hey, I need an alternator connector for a 4cylinder 626". That connector is a "Ford Parts Bin" common connector.

Here's the part number for the alternator connector, in case someone needs it.
