Question about wires by ecu

I have two questions- first what is the small black single plug box mounted to the stock ecu? It comes from the dash harness and I "think" it has to do with the fan recall. Second, in the engine harness there is a black- red stripe single plug that I can't seem to locate in the fms. Any incite would be helpful and thank you.

Picture attached.

After some digging around i found a answer to my first question for anyone who searches. ~ The black box is part of mazda's recall for the fans. Its in this thread about half way down.

I think that black/red wire is also part of the fan mod. I removed the fan mod some time back, and took pics of the cabin fan mod harness and sensor box:

1) Entire cabin harness out

2) The sensor box and part of the harness (taken before complete removal)

Do you see the connector/wire you were asking about? (I think I do.)

I believe thst the wire is a part of the recall. Ground it and the fans will come on. Do a bit of searching ... If I wasn't on my phone i'd look for you.

On my car I have this connected to a fog light switch (bought a factory switch as my R1 doesn't have fog lights) so that I can manually trigger my fans.

Yes, that is the one i am talking about. I see that they added a extension harness under the dash as well as the fan relays under the hood. I removed the one under the hood now I am trying to identify the one under the dash. That was very helpful~ thank you!

I'm with you now, I searched and found a bunch of stuff but nothing was quite clear about the extension harness under the dash. wstrohm pictures cleared it up for me. But i do appreciate the info.

My car is not equipped with the patch harness. That's why I was confused about the wiring. Mine is built into the engine harness without any extensions.

I traced them out and removed them.
