Question Question about tuning my FD?

Their is a well know shop by me called SPI power excel. They are well rounded when it comes to tuning supras. The owner has an 800hp supra. They always have crazy cars their. BTW His supra has been in turbo magazine.

They have a dyno with a wideband. I know that they know how to use the PFC cause they use it on alot of their supras. They have delt with Rx7's before, but arent specialists. They have put some basic bolt ons, on my car already.

I guess my question is, should I allow them to tune my 7? I know they know alot more than I do when it comes to tuning. I want to put a mp on my car but am question weather or not to have them do it. Does it take a special tuner to tune the rx7? Do they need to know ceratin things that other cars wouldnt need to know? I think I know enough that if I was to sit their with them and tell them what I want that it will come out ok.

I just dont know how to add fuel and change injector sizes etc.. I am sure that they do though. I would think the wideband would do all the work. Just not let my car run lean.

Anyway your opinions would help out alot. I am sure most of you are going to say take it to KDR but its a little far to go all the time and I have heard that he runs cars very rich. I will definately take it their to do street port etc. I am just looking for simple tuning for now.

MY mods:

apexi intake
m2 dp
jic catback
PFC
greddy profec B
defi boost/ water temp gauge
apexi turbo timer

I personally would rather have someone who works on/tunes rx7's day in and day out tune mine but it's all up to you. BTW, Rich is good. Lean means new motor soon.

7 specialist would be much better...

but then again how many rx-7s have they worked on?? if they've got a decent number then i wouldnt worry about it, cause unless they've got some experience with fuel management for 7s you should go to someone else.

Since you already have a Power FC, you need to do one of two things: 1. go to an authorized Apex'i Power Xcel Dealer that tunes with the Power Xcel software, the only shop I know of with the software is XS engineering in Huntington Beach CA. 2. Go to a reputable Rotary tuner that has the Datalogit software, and experience in tuning FD3S' with Power FC's. So if SPI has the Power Xcel software and know how to tune your car with it, then *maybe* you can trust them (I personally don't know anything about their tuning so I won't try to influence you either way). Or like you stated you can go to KD Rotary in Nazareth Penn. and have it tuned with the datalogit software. Tuning is never simple and is a vital part of performance on a turbo car. Good luck, and let us all know how the tuning goes.
