Question about these ebay sleek headlight kits

Saw these kits posted about in an older thread and was wondering what you guys thought would be better.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

This one says it has all the mounting hardware required, but someone said in a previous thread that you would still need to make a bracket? Do you think this is true? The seller also sells the lexan covers, but they don't come with the tint around the edges (I think the black around the edges looks better).

or this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

This one has the tint around the dges of the lexan.

or this site which sells a cwest type replica:
http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?P...PROD&ProdID=90

What do you think?

Personally? I think they all look like **** and make the car look and perform worse. They all definitely share that "kit" look.

I'm sure not as high quality as a real RE kit, but I like the sleek look better than stock and want to save some weight without spending a fortune.

You wont save much weight probably 4lbs at most. Most of the stock Mazda parts are light to begin with. If you don't have a stomach for cutting into your precious FD don't get them. You will have to cut into the headlight support to make the lightbulbs fit. The bracket fabrication isn't bad at all, just by some sheet metal from your local hardware store, and that would be all you need for that. They look nice with or without the plastic cover, in fact it would be more functional without the cover, but obviously doesn't look as clean. I have this kit on my FD, but I'm going to probably be replacing them with the c-west kit.

BAHHAHA. If you are worried about saving that amount of weight go take a **** before you drive, rather than making your car look like crap.

How much cutting was required? I actually emailed the seller of the first kit to ask if cutting was required, but he said it wasn't. Let me know if you want to sell your kit

BAHAHAHAHA yeah cause that's the only weight reduction I was gonna do! I am definitely not removing my rear bose wave speakers, rear wiper asembly, cruise control, rear mat and carpeting, and rear bins and lids! I also do not have a lightweight battery, lightweight driveshaft, or lightweight flywheel already installed! I am also not buying lightweight toyo t1-s tires on thursday! And when I'm at the track, there's no way in hell I would ever remove my passenger seat or my spare tire, jack, and tools!

I am hoping by getting rid of my heavy pop-up headlights to gain of a full second in the quarter mile!

I got the Race-on headlight kit. Its fit isn't perfect, but then again I've bought some expensive japanese stuff that didn't fit all that great. When I brought my car to KD rotary Dave thought that the kit I had was authentic (and I didn't correct him). If you do things right and the kit fits and looks the same, why pay the extra 600 dollars for the "name"

That's what I'm sayin! So did you install the kit yourself? How much cutting/modification was necessary?
