question about spark plugs i have
ok so i went to the dealer and asked for new spark plugs.
now when i got home and looked at them i have 4 trailing plugs??
2 BUR9EQP trailing
and
2BUR9EQ trailing
so i think i remmeber from a long time ago that people put trailing plugs in the leading slot?
am i supposed to put the 2 BUR9EQ t in the leading spots?
i looked at the top plugs and they currently have the BUR9EQP t so ill just swap those out?

It really depends on the driving you are doing (and your mods). If you are just driving it on the street, too cold of a plug will foul quicker and give a little worse gas mileage. If you are running a large single turbo and some high boost (or track driving), colder plugs would be a good choice.

They gave you the wrong plugs. You should have gotten:
2 - BUR7EQP (leading)
2 - BUR9EQP (trailing)
However, as others have pointed out, it won't hurt your engine to run "all 9s".

i dont really have any opinion about the heat range, im just worried that it says trailing on the plug in case they make a 2BUR9EQ L?
and what is the difference between P and no P?

The "P" stands for platinum. The only difference is the heat range. For NGK, heat range 9 is colder than heat range 7. Running the 9 heat range plugs all around will not hurt your car. I would suggest putting the platinum plugs in the leading position, since they see twice as much duty as the trailing spark plugs.

scotty - If the leading plugs are seeing twice as much duty as the trailing plugs, then why aren't the leading plugs the cooler 9's, and the trailer plugs the hotter 7's? Not challenging, I just don't know.

jsut so i dont mess this up .. cause im slightly confused.. I removed my PFC put in the Stock ECU replacing my plugs for the first time.. I bought 2 7's and 2 9's..
and then i pulled the plugs out and found out that they were all 9's
so i am going to put 7's back in.. am i correct to say that they go on the top?

No. In stock configuration the leading plugs (BUR7EQP) go in the bottom while the trailing (BUR9EQP) go in the top. In this case the term "leading" refers to frontrunner...it being the plug towards the "front" of the combustion chamber when the plugs are sparked. The reason you might want a platinum plug is that the leading plugs actually fire twice per combustion while the trailing only fire once. You don't HAVE to have the platinum plugs, but the others won't last as long. Mine only had a few thousand miles on them and the wear was already noticeable. I replaced them with the platinum version and they're lasting much longer.
I would say that if you're running more than 300 whp it would probably be a good idea to go with the trailing (BUR9EQP) plugs all around. You don't have to, but there is a risk of detonation due to the hotter plug retaining heat and setting off the air/fuel mixture prematurely. But if your car isn't putting out that much power the only result of running colder plugs will be (as mentioned) quicker fouling and slightly worse gas mileage.

Just listen to what Mahjik said. If your car is very modded, run the 9's all around. If your car is somewhat modded and you are real heavy on the right foot all the time, run the 9's all around. If you dont fall under either of those, run the stock config with the 7's and the 9's...

you guys are late... i put the 7's in top.. he idle was a little jumpy this morning.. thought it may have to do with the cold weather..but i am going to get another set of 9's tomorrow..
good thing is that they are on the top so they will be easy to get to ..

in essance i guess it would be eaiser to take the top ones out .. and just put in the 9's since that is what was in there before. The FD is Slightly modded.. Non-seq apexi exhaust. the PFC will go back in.... last time i did a dyno.. i think it was 311 or 317( 3 yrs ago). so the guy that i bought it from had all 9's so i might as well put them back in.. . If i didnt read the forum first before i went to buy them and just pulled them out and replaced what was already in the car i would have been ok..
but they are only 6 bucks a peice.. i figure , why not slpurge on another set..

I use all 9s.
Also regarding platinum vs non, I personally think its better go cheap and change them often than relying on platinum plugs and leave them in longer..
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.. but I thought non platinum actually sparks better. I change my plugs every other oil change or every third oil change. Since its not my daily, it's like 2-3 times a year.

go cheap and change often?..sorry ..I pay a buck and a half more for platinum plugs..so six bucks is still less than one plug ..I'm not a third gen guy but the platinums ..I like them ...I noticed they start the 13b better..no fouled plugs here..
