They have 2 versions of the flares, a competition version which you see there and requires a fuel cell in the trunk. Basically requiring you to pop the hatch everytime you fill up. And then they have a street version of the flares which have a cut-out for the gas lid.

you stick the hose into the fuel cell that you have in the trunk.

Here's the way Cam did it on the Banzai. He cut the lid in the shape of a D that has slots on it. When he fills up, he pops the door release like normal. Then instead of swinging it open, the whole door just comes off (it doesnt fall off because it has the slots). When he's done gassing up, the lid slides back in the slots, and then locked back up with the stock door lock. Very trick.

I think if I were going to put so much effort into it, I would've routed the filler neck to somewhere else, like behind the taillight or something. Then when you want to fill it up, swing the taillight out, and there's the filler. Have you ever seen a show car like that?

Ha I've never heard of that, that's um, different. That would take quite a bit of work I'm thinking. Cutting the stock fuel door, bondo'ing on some flaps, and painting it while still being able to use the stock lock isn't too much work.

If you get the flares, please cover the rivots. They look like they came off an RV.
