Question about multi-function switch/clockspring

If I remove the multifunction switch with the clockspring at TDC do I need to do the re-winding procedure to make sure that I'm not going to snap the wires? Or is that only if I am replacing the clockspring itself with a new one?

I recently installed a HKB boss kit and am noticing that my steering shaft is squeaky. I'm wondering if I can take off the switch/clockspring and lube a bushing or something on the shaft behind it. Thanks.

if you're sure the clockspring didn't move it can go right back on. if you're not sure you need to do the winding thing.
if its off you'll snap the spring.
