as the gurus once said to me...PATIENCE GRASSHOPPA!

dont do anything until you get a pfc...a midpipe...and some dyno time.

DO NOT MAIL ORDER TUNE. and DONT WASTE THE MONEY ON A REMAPPED STOCK ECU...that **** is not tuned for your car anyhow..its only guesswork. you will end up modding the vehicle later anyhow and will just have wasted the money...if you dont blow it up on bad maps before that. you cant psychically tune your car without a wideband and a dyno right?

listen to snook...or you are going to blow your **** up. guaranteed.

a high flow cat flows more...more flow needs more fuel.

sorry..Im tired and crabby...but what Im saying and what the others are saying is true. simply mellow on your mods til you get them all together or get them done in the right order. doing these things will save you thousands.

your home depot controller isnt going to save your booty...just limp it around til you get the right mods and you can drive it fine. keep out of high boost at ALL TIMES.

you are asking if you can get a high flow cat. Well just ask yourself can the stock ecu go over 10 psi very well? No it can't and with the flowing exhaust you are going to make it easier to boost over 10 psi.

I blew my motor I guess because I never checked the air fuel ratio and didn't know what exactly the computer could handle. I just new 14.7 psi but for what mods who knows.

and there is no way that he can stay off of the boost and drive normal until he gets a computer. Just put a stock cat on there or you will blow the motor. You may even blow it with the stock cat who knows

Actually...you're wrong. They CAN be tuned to a specific car, using a dyno...but they rarely are. That said...even without dyno tuning them, of course they're safer than a stock ECU. They richen up the maps to account for a general level of improved flow from a more or less average set of mods. They tend to be a bit conservative because its better to be safe than sorry, so most of the time this results in a bit less that optimal performance than if you had it (or a standalone) specifically tuned for your car. Finally...yes, you can pay "a bit more" for an AEM or PFC...like, over twice as much more, if you're comparing to a used remapped ECU. The guy needs an inexpensive solution to keep him from blowing his motor, not a tool that will allow him to fine-tune everything to the bleeding edge and then do it again when he adds more mods. Plenty of time for that later.

do you guys really think that these aftermarket ecus are safer then stock? do you actually think they can be possibly be tuned to your individual car/mods??? I'm sorry if I'm ranting but come on guys, think about it!!!

BTW: You never mentioned how much boost you are running, how much are you running and how are you trying to control boost. If you don't even got the homedepot manual boost controler in there (which cost about 6-10 bucks from homedepot or what ever local hardware store you have near you) and are over boosting, shame on you. It's 10 bucks for crying out loud, come on! If your still over boosting, use restrictor plates (these are also amazingly cheap, under 5 bucks to make and they work!).
