question about the engine

question 1:
i've been lurking around here for some time, and have read alot of the posts and still dont fully understand the meaning of the warming of the engine... well thats not phrased right, i do understand it, what i dont get is how long you should let it warm, because say i bought an FD, got in it to go for a drive to either the store or just for the sake of driving, how long would i need to wait till the car was good to go? is it a matter of seconds or minutes... anyone got an answer?

question 2:
nothing yet... will edit when i got one... i've forgotten what i was going to put here...

i like to wait until its up to operating temps but I would say you are fine just warming it for a minute or so just dont boost until you are at operating temps.

it won't be that long, just wait til you see the needle heard towards the centre area. and don't rev it or anything before

I simply drive it gently until the temp needle is moving up. There is no need to wait to drive it just because the engine is cold.

agreed you really only have to wait till you get oil pressure to gently drive, but dont get out on the road and dump it when some honda tries to get in front of you untill the water/oil temp gauge is normal.
