Question about CEL code #16 and installing new ecu
I currently have my CEL on with code #16 (EGR) on. I plan on installing a new PowerFC next week with a base mod map from Jason @ RX7Store.net. I have a couple of questions:
1. Does the CEL still work with the PowerFC? If so, does it use the same codes as the stock ecu?
2. If my EGR really is bad (I know sometimes it's just a false code), does it really matter? Could this affect my install of the PFC? I'm in Florida, so I'm not concerned with emissions.
3. I know about the wires that need to be cut before installing the PowerFC....most of them are related to the EGR...does it basically eliminate the functionality of the EGR?
Thanks for the input,
Ian

Thanks tyler....so you think I should basically just ignore my code & install the pfc with absolutely no concerns?
Also, since the CEL is going to no longer be functional, will the PFC notify me, via the commander, when something is not operating properly?

Well, you could always fix the EGR problem first....(see F-35 and F-125 in FSM).
The Commander has a sensor screen that is very handy...I suggest you read through the PFC manuals thoroughly before installing to get a good idea of what it can do and how to do the basics.

It's odd....I reset my stock ecu a few days ago by disconnecting the battery, & now after 3-4 days of driving, the code hasn't popped up again...do you think it's just a matter of time?
Also, would fixing it really accomplish anything better than just leaving it as is or putting a block-off plate?
