Love my Porterfield R4-S pads. Using them with Slotted Powerslots front and rear. However I'm only experienced with aggressive street driving. Anyone using Porterfields on the track?

With my Hawk DTC-70's I don't find they squel much more then the hp+ do. I find they don't actually squel most of the time. Although, it might be the way I drive. I tend to downshift, downshift, and then hitting the brakes at the last minute as I come to a stop so I brake harder then normal all the time on the street.

As for braking cold, I have never noticed a lack of brakes even in sub zero temperatures. I will say one thing though. If this is the first time using the pads on the rotor. The brakes will NOT work well until they are broken in correctly. This only applies for the first time you put them on a rotor. If you replace the pad and had used them before on the rotor, they will still work but of course proper breakin should always be followed for newly installed performance/race pads.

And one final note, if its the first time putting them on the rotor. Sparks will come out of your brakes like mad for the first few breakin stops . I got scared the first time I saw it lol.

I've used Porterfield R-4 compound pads on track and had mixed experiences with them. For a novice to intermediate level driver the R-4s would hold up okay but for more advanced drivers I wouldn't recommend them to be used with stock brakes on our car. I melted a set and glazed my rotors with deposits and got massive fade. Again, I recommend Hawks DTC line up for track use.

Brake Pads are like cigarettes, everyone has there own flavor and aren't likely to change. My flavor of choice is Performance friction PFC01's. I've used them on everything from a 450whp DSM to a E30 BMW and now in my FD. I haven't come across a better pad in 9+ years of DE duty. I run them on the street as well. A little dusty but they don't fade (no ducting) and are about as linear as you will find.

I would love to run PFC01s but they don't seem make them in our OEM pad shape. I've heard good things about Raybestos as well but don't have any experience with them.

Raybestos are economical and work well but eat rotors. Similar to the hawke blues. If you want good pads that are smooth and kind to rotors with good bite and release you'll have to open your wallet for PFC, Pagids, Endless etc....

A good economical middle of the road setup for stock calipers on the FD is DTC 70 front 60 rear. If you run a staggered setup go 70 front and rear. I haven't used these but have heard they're as good (similar bite or torque) as blues but rotor friendly.

PS And speaking of beating up on Porsches me and Pete will be at VIR May 20th to the 22nd with the 1st Settlers Porsche club.

Absolutely I've love to see some of the NJ FD guys at VIR

Maybe SPR would be a better location for a VA NJ NY FD track meet. Very easy track to learn and drive as well as lots of fun.

I'd love to come down and have you or brent ride along with me to give me some pointers. SPR and VIR are both a good 3.5-5 hour drive so I'd need a trailer. I've been looking into a tow vehicle, any suggestions? I was considering an older land cruiser.

May 20-22 with the FSR PCA. VIR is like a 9 hour drive for me, but I do have a tow rig and trailer. Hope you guys can make it out. I'll also be there July 22-24. That'll be my last time at VIR for quite some time.

You are an evil evil old man! I think that's the first time I've ever saw a factory truck and actually liked it. I wish I could afford one of those hahaha. But 40k for a truck is a bit ridiculous. Apparently they're pretty popular out in Vegas. I think they are only rated at 6000lbs towing capacity...The land cruiser is rated at 6500lbs and is more comfy
