"purge control tank"????
Getting ready to change the purge control solenoid -- but what does the "control Tank" capture??? Looks like it's just a gas tank epaporation type catch. Does it need to be "emptied"? or replaced? I have the new solenoid, but looking at the diagram, I wonder what part the "tank" plays. Don't see anyting in the FSM about it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's just a buffer for gas tank fumes. I've never seen one that was bad or caused any sort of problems.
If you have an engine code for the purge control solenoid (which I seem to remember) then the solenoid is either bad or the wiring to the solenoid is bad. The ECU is VERY dumb when it comes to this, it just looks for a certain resistance at the end of the wire to see that it's plugged in and not shorted out. It has no idea about anything else in the system or how well the part performs.
