Purge control catch cleaning

Came across this by accident. Noticed that when I removed the purge control catch (below the throttle body) I heard something rattling inside. Looks like little bits of carbon (my only guess) are falling out when I shake it.

Thought maybe it should be flushed and cleaned. Did some searching and did not find anything yet.

Does cleaning it out seem like a good idea? I never really gave it a second look the countless times I've removed it before but maybe after 30 years+ it should be cleaned

Thanks!

I think you'll find it's bits from the charcoal canister - had one like that some years ago, which was also affected by ethanol and a little melted/dissolved on the ends.
