pulley problems

ok, i have loud chirps when i use the p/s and a/c pulleys in my system. i take the A/C out of the loop but the belt seems to be loose. and this is the belt that is meant for P/S only. is it suppose to be this way? anyway as the miles go by the paint on my idler pulley is now almost completely gone, and the squeak is starting to come back....i believe i had it too tight before with the a/c in in the loop... now its too loose....wtf?? i'm seriously considering getting rid of the A/C and P/S. I cant stand a noise happening. And i can tell its going to start squeaking again...i feel the setup is loose as it is, but i cant tighten it anymore, that idler pulley bolt is down all the way. Whats going on with this??

In my case the loud chirp came from the tensioner pulley bearing starting to go bad. Remove the pulley by loosening the center nut (19mm I think), and then un-tensioning the belt by backing out the 10mm bolt on top. Remove the big nut completely and slide the pulley out. Stick the bearing on your finger and spin it around. If it makes grinding/clicking noises, that's your culprit. The replacement pully+bearing is about $50 from Malloy. They don't sell the bearing separately.

your right that was my primary culprit, but i changed that out 2 weeks ago. BUt the squeaking is starting very slowly again, its barely noticeable, but i dont want it to start again.
