Alright, here's my "I need help for the day".
I JUST finished installing everything together again and now the Power Steering and A/C belt keeps slipping off. Why would this happen? All the pulleys for the A/C and Power Steering don't have adjustments so there's only ONE way to istall it.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Help, I want to get this together for Deals Gap Rotary Rally.

 

tighten the belt!!! just adjust the tension pully

 

yeah loosen the center nut on the adjustable pulley and then use the bolt on top to tighten / loosen it, should be easy to set acceptable deflection and retigthen the center nut (17mm)

 

1) Make sure the nut on the pulley is snug.
2) With the belt off, make sure there is no wiggle in the pulley from a bad bearing.

Thanks guys. But the belt is TIGHT....I actaully am thinking of loosening it....Grrrrr.

What pullies do you have? OEM?

Can you look down from the top/side and tell if they are all aligned in the same plane? If one of the pullies (or accessory) is too far in our out it will make the belt want to jump off. If you somehow bent a bracket it can **** a pulley and make it want to jump off.

It looks okay and then after I stop it from running just after a few seconds I get this...




I took everything off, reinstalled and it did it again.....I'm out of ideas.
NOTE: This belts slips off after I install it with carefull hands to make sure it's in all the proper grooves.

 

Yea it's definitely trying to jump off the tensioner since there's nothing stopping it from sliding right off there...



In your second picture the width of the belt doesn't seem right for the pulley. Do all the teeth line up with the grooves in the pulley properly? Is this a new belt or an old belt that previously worked fine and just started jumping? My guess here is that if it's a brand new belt, it's just the wrong size.

This was a 20K belt that worked fine before I did the engine swap. Now after installing everything it's jumping off. It looks to be on perfect before I start the car and then It slides off.
How much of and offset could cause something like this?

 

I just checked. The Manual and my pictures (before uninstalling) just proved that the tensioner pulley is installed correct.

 

The tensioner pulley? Mine appears to be on that way and I've never had any issues:

 

if it's indeed tight enough, pullies installed correctly and belt is good/proper belt then something has to be binding up causing it to buck and try to come off the pullie(s), spin each pulley by hand and check for play

 

Okay, I just took off the A/C and Power steering pumps and I loosened all the bolts to the Bracket that both pumps are attached. Apparently there is some 'play' with the way you bolt the bracket to the block. Irritating but I'm installing everything AGAIN and we'll see if that changes the outcome.

 

****, my bad...I think I had it backwards one time...and get it confused now. Sorry.

 

Fixed it. The issue was the A/C and P/S bracket. It has some play in it. Note to all, remember to pull it forward when installing it. Thanks for the help guys.
