PSA: Check/replace your FPR hose

Or it could cost you a motor:

During my buildup, due to my ignorance/neglect I didn’t replace every vacuum hose and missed the fact that the FPR hose had become hard and wasn’t OE clamped or the very least ziptied on.

After a 15psi pull the FPR boost reference hose blew off and leaned out the motor.

Fortunately/unfortunately the car still runs OK, but its defiantly hurt from the lean condition.

I’d recommend replacing this hose if you haven’t in awhile, and at the very least, every oil change or so shoot a flashlight behind the UIM and make sure its still nice and secure and the hose is in good condition.

All the mods in the world (with the exception of maybe meth/AI) won’t help you if your FPR looses its boost reference and leans out, the crux of the rotary motor.

They talk about a similar problem here. All because of the higher boost blowing hoses off.

Good post to warn people. Also a good idea to replace the FPR if you are ever in doubt to its age

This is also a good reason to use GOOD vacuum line. I've used Hose Techniques silicone vacuum hose for YEARS, the 3.5mm is the perfect size. It STICKS on there, you have to work at it to remove the hose. It will NOT blow off.

Good suggestion though on checking it occasionally.

Couldnt hurt to use some sort of adhesive also with a OE clamp in addition to a good quality hose.
