PS belt change question.

I didn't see anything in the FSM nor in a search. I'm trying to change my power steering belt to get rid of a squeak. What direction does the locknut on the idler pulley go to loosen it? Clockwise(reverse of normal) or counter clockwise(normal). I tried both, but I'm afraid of pushing too hard and breaking the bolt. Thanks!

I assume to change the belt you mean the tension bolt that moves the idler pulley??
You tighten it down, towards the ground. Surprised you are having trouble b/c they aren't supposed to be that tight.

I got it, thanks. I wasn't too sure so I didn't want to push too hard either way.
